Seed Science and Technology: Different sources of seed and characteristics of quality seeds. Seed production technologies- hybrids, high yielding varieties of crops including vegetables; Post harvest technology related to seed production – hybrids and high yielding varieties of crops including vegetables; Seed quality testing for germination, physical and genetic purities; Seed treatment techniques, storage, marketing and distribution; Seed replacement.

Genetics and Plant Breeding and Agricultural Biotechnology: Crop varieties/ hybrids relevant to the region; Local germplasm collection, conservation and propagating seed material; Varieties in self pollinated crops; selections and conserving the seed material; Farmers rights under PPV and FR 2001 Act.

Crop Physiology and Forestry & Environmental Science: Nutrient elements and their importance in growth and development of crops; Nutrient deficiency and toxicity symptoms, their identification in the field and correction measures; Foliar nutrition; Use of growth regulators for different purposes in agriculture, horticulture, sericulture and forest crops, Promotion of social agro forestry systems; Different types of nurseries, seed collection of forest tree species and cataloguing.
